CALMAR –– Mr. and Mrs. Nick Hageman will observe their golden wedding anniversary next Sunday with a mass of thanksgiving at 10 in St. Aloysius Catholic church.

A dinner will be served in the church hall after the mass. There will also be an open house from 2 to 4.

Mr. Hageman and the former Miss Rosalia Imoehl were married Jan. 27, 1920, at Festina. They have ten children: Miss Florentina Hageman, Mrs. Ervin Wenthold, Edwin and Quentin, all of Festina; ERmin of Calmar, Mrs. John Kruse and Mrs. Gregory Kriener of Waucoma, Mrs. Norbert Kuennen of St. Lucas, Victor of Decorah, and Sister Joan of West Point. There are 35 grandchildren.

CALMAR –– Nicholas Hageman, 81, of Calmar, died Saaturday [6 Sep 1975] at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Rosalia; six daughters, Florentina Hageman of Calmar, Mrs. Rita Wenthold of Ft. Atkinson, Mrs. Lucille Druse and Mrs Vera Kreiner, both of Waucoma, Mrs. Delores Kuennen of St. Lucas, and Sister Joan of Breda; four sons, Edwin and Ermin, both. Of Calmar, and Victor and Quentin, both of Decorah; and brothers and sisters.

Rosalia J. Hageman, 91, died Thursday in the Ossian Senior Hospic after a long illness.

Surviving are four sons, Edwin and Ermin, both of Calmar, and Quentin and Victor, both of Decorah; six daughters, Lucille Kruse and Vera Kriener, both of Waucoma, Rita Wenthold of Fort Atkinson, Dolores Kuennen of St. Lucas, Sister Joan Hageman of Des Moines, and Florentina Hageman of Calmar; 38 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a step great-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at French’s, where a rosary will be recited at 3 and at 5 p.m. and a parish Scripture service will be conducted at 8 tonight.

Florentina Hageman

Florentina Hageman, age 86, of Festina, Iowa, died on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, Iowa, following a short illness.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2008, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina, Iowa, with Monsignor Cletus Hawes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday morning until 10:30 a.m. at the Festina Parish Center in Festina. There will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Schluter – Balik Funeral Home, French Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Florentina Mary Hageman was born on December 10, 1921, the daughter of Nick and Rosalia (Imoehl) Hageman on the family farm near Festina, Iowa. Florentina attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina and helped various families in the area when new babies were born. Florentina worked and lived all her life on the family farm. She was an excellent cook and baked delicious pies and cookies. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing cards and spending time in the summer with her nieces and nephews. Florentina was a member of the Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church and the Rosary Society.

Florentina is survived by two brothers: Edwin Hageman, Ossian, IA and Victor (Elaine) Hageman, Des Moines, IA. Four sisters: Lucille Kruse, Waucoma, IA; Vera Kriener, Waucoma, IA; Dolores (Norbert) Kuennen, St. Lucas, IA and Sister Joan Hageman FSPA, LaCrosse, WI. Two sisters-in-law: Cleon Hageman, Calmar, IA and Pat Hageman, Shell Rock, IA and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Florentina was preceded in death by her parents: Nick and Rosalia Hageman. Three brothers: Marcellinus in infancy in 1920, Ermin Hageman in 2001 and Quentin Hageman in 2005. One sister: Rita Wenthold on 2007. Three brothers-in-law: Ervin Wenthold in 1989, Greg Kriener in 2003 and John Kruse in 2005.

Edwin “Eddie” Hageman, age 87, of Calmar, IA, died on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at the Ossian Senior Hospice in Ossian, IA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, 2351 County Road B32, in Festina, Iowa with Rev. Phillip Gibbs presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Festina, Iowa.
Visitation will be held after 9:00 a.m., at the Festina Parish Center on Saturday morning.

Edwin Hageman was born on January 27, 1929, the son of Nick and Rosalia (Imoehl) Hageman on the family farm near Festina, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church in Festina. Edwin attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Festina. Edwin farmed his whole life on the family farm near Festina. He raised crops and livestock. After retiring he stayed on the farm and helped with chores until entering the Ossian Senior Hospice on May 5, 2007. Edwin enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends.

Sister Joan Hageman Celebrates her Jubilee 9

FESTINA –– Six Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration will be celebrating their jubilees Aug. 10 in Festina.
The celebration will begin with the 9 a.m. parish Mass at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church, followed by an open house at the parish center. Anyone may attend.

Those celebrating are Sister Helen Elsbend, Sister Maryam Gossling and Sister Marian Massman, all 5 years in August; Sister Joan Hageman, 50 years in August 2009; and Sister Marcella Hackman and Sister Phyllis Ann Hackman, both 60 years this August.
