Porto, Portugal

Thursday, June 2nd we docked in the port of Leixöes, Portugal.

We took a Tuk Tuk excursion from the ship to the historic town of Porto, Portugal which is about 20 minutes SouthEast of Leixöes. We traveled east along the Rio Leça before traveling south to Porto.

Located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal, Porto is one of the oldest European centers and its core is a world Heritage Site by UNEXCO.

Porto was very similar to Lisbon in that it had cobbled streets and the city was built on several hills. So, fantastic views. The beautiful Douro River runs through the town with interesting and historic bridges.

The views were beautiful, the weather was perfect, about in the high 60s but a little windy and no rain.

We were on the Tuk Tuk with a couple of ladies, Sue and Moe, who were entertaining and fun to be with. We ran into them often on the ship through the next several weeks, as they also did back to back cruising.

This was another favorite day for us.
